Jean Monnet Module: Offering Advanced Courses on the EU
Thanks to funding by the Erasmus+ program of the EU, the Department of Regional Studies at the University of Tehran successfully completed the Jean Monnet Module: ‘Offering Advanced Courses on the EU'. As part of the module the department offered two graduate level courses titled 'European Integration' and 'EU-Iran Relations' for three consecutive years (2017-2020). The course on European integration was a Masters' level course that studied the history and process of European integration and the formation of the European Union as well the challenges European countries have faced during this path. The effect of Brexit as well as the rise of right-wing political groups in member countries on European integration was also examined. The course on EU-Iran relations on the other hand studied the history of this relationship and the many challenges it has faced in recent years including the Trump presidency and its withdrawal from the Nuclear agreement. This was a PhD level course with a small cohort allowing heated debates among students. In total 41 graduate students benefited from these courses.
